Thought of the day

Today I saw a post on HONY in which a woman spoke about moving three hours away from her home, a town with 15,000 people where everyone knew your face, and starting a new life in London (coincidentally what I did in 2015.)

She said something I really identified with: ‘My life isn’t better or worse. It’s just different. And that’s what I wanted.’

This reminded me of the beautiful screenplay for the 2015 film ‘Brooklyn’, the ending of which relays something rather similar…

You’ll feel so homesick that you’ll want to die, and there’s nothing you can do about it apart from endure it. But you will, and it won’t kill you. And one day the sun will come out – you might not even notice straight away, it’ll be that faint. And then you’ll catch yourself thinking about something or someone who has no connection with the past. And you’ll realize… that this is where your life is. – Eilis Lacey, Brooklyn, 2015IMG_4315
